Sometimes, I feel discriminated against, but it does not make me angry. It merely astonishes me. How can any deny themselves the pleasure of my company? It’s beyond me.

Illegal as a noun

sinidentidades:

Illegal being turned into a noun is by far the most ruthlessly effective way to dehumanize and demonize an entire group of people, which is why it is propagated by mass media and politicians to vilify these people as outsiders and aggressors of the state to justify the systematic abuse and exploitation these people are faced with on a daily basis.

I have never been more disgusted in a human being until now.  People like these are the ones keeping this country the way it is. MUST WATCH!!!

WARNING! The ignorance is blinding.

My first reaction was o.O . Then, I was mad. Afterwards, I just felt sorry for them and laughed because apparently I carry burritos around with me all the time. By the way, these girls apologized after a year went by because they were ashamed but probably also scared. So many people corrected them on youtube!

My Life as an Undocumented Immigrant ↘

astoryanew:

There are people who sneak through Border Controls.
There are people who overstay their green card.
There are people who don’t have any control over what is happening.

This is a really fantastic article.

And makes me thankful that I was naturalized at a very young age.

Undocumented Immigrants Paid $11.2 Billion In Taxes While GE Paid Nothing ↘

stfuxenobigotry:

This past month, there was much outrage over the fact that General Electric, despite making $14.2 billion in profits, paid zero U.S. taxes in 2010. General Electric actually received tax credits of $3.2 billion from American taxpayers.

At the same time that General Electric was not paying taxes, many undocumented immigrants, who are typically accused of taking advantage of the system while not contributing to it by many on the right, paid $11.2 billion in taxes. A new studyby the Institute for Taxation and Economic Policy shows that undocumented immigrants paid $8.4 billion in sales taxes, $1.6 billion in property taxes, and $1.2 billion in personal income taxes last year. The study also estimates that nearly half of all undocumented immigrants pay income taxes.

Man who saved girl says he's illegal immigrant ↘

truth-has-a-liberal-bias:

The man who chased down an alleged child abductor and saved a 6-year-old girl from what could have been a horrible fate will be honored as a hero Friday. But he is also gaining a new kind of celebrity: as a poster child of sorts for immigration rights in state and national immigration debates.

Antonio Diaz Chacon, 23, is a Mexican citizen married to an American and has been in the country for four years. But Chacon says he abandoned attempts to get legal residency because the process was difficult and expensive.

Diaz Chacon, who works in Albuquerque as a mechanic, revealed his immigration status to the Spanish-language Univision TV network this week, prompting chatter on the Internet and social networking sites that his case underscored immigrant rights positions in two ongoing political debates.

“I came to work, to work hard,” he told Univision. “The only problem is I entered the country illegally and now we can’t afford a lawyer to file the immigration papers.”

Some argue he is an example of the kind of immigrant the federal government will now largely leave alone. The Department of Homeland Security announced Thursday that deportations would focus on criminals.

“As exceptional as his story is,” said Christina Parker, a spokeswoman for Border Network for Human Rights in El Paso, “It points to the fact that most undocumented immigrants living in the United States are not criminals. He’s more than not a criminal now. He’s a hero.”  […]

Alabama Law Makes It A Felony For Undocumented Immigrants To Have Water At Their Homes ↘

crimesoftheheart:

Here is a glimpse of the article

Indeed, under one provision of the state’s immigration law, HB 56, it is a felony for an undocumented immigrant to even attempt to do business with Alabama’s state-run water agencies:

An alien not lawfully present in the United States shall not enter into or attempt to enter into a business transaction with the state or a political subdivision of the state and no person shall enter into a business transaction or attempt to enter into a business transaction on behalf of an alien not lawfully present in the United States. […]

A violation of this section is a Class C felony.

In Alabama, Class C felonies are punishable by up to ten years in prison — meaning that undocumented people in Alabama can now be locked up for an entire decade if they attempt to take a bath in their own home.

I can’t begin to explain how ridiculous this shit is.
